Boston-based alternative rock band Pixies has released their ninth studio album, “The Night the Zombies Came,” perfectly timed for the Halloween season. This new album encapsulates a horror theme, aligning with the spooky spirit of the holiday.
Formed in 1986 by Black Francis, Joey Santiago, Kim Deal, and David Lovering, Pixies recently welcomed bassist and vocalist Emma Richardson, who joined earlier this year following the departure of longtime member Paz Lenchantin. While the band initially gained traction in Europe during the 1990s alternative rock boom, they have since enjoyed a resurgence, particularly after their successful reunion tour in 2004, despite previous breaks in their career.
“The Night the Zombies Came” offers a captivating listening experience, appealing even to those outside the rock music genre. With its eerie sounds and haunting lyrics, the album is a fitting soundtrack for Halloween, demonstrating Pixies’ ability to remain relevant and innovative nearly four decades after their formation.
