Papercity Unveils Cinematic Music Video Inspired by ‘The Prisoner’

Papercity has released an extraordinary new music video directed by the band’s lead singer and guitarist, Alex Hargreaves. Known for his work on all of the group’s videos, Hargreaves has also directed for notable acts like Alien Weaponry, Jujulipps, and Devilskin. The latest clip, inspired by the 1960s science fiction series The Prisoner, was filmed across Tāmaki Makaurau and Queenstown, showcasing a stunning visual experience that complements the song’s driving, synth-heavy sound.

“In The Prisoner, a man wakes up in a strange village, and if he tries to escape, a giant orb chases him down,” Hargreaves explained. “This concept relates to the song’s theme of emotions and thoughts pursuing you. In our video, the entire band is attempting to evade the orb, emphasizing that you’re never truly alone in your struggles.”
