Country music sensation Oliver Anthony has announced his departure from the music industry, opting to focus on a new path as a traveling minister.

In a heartfelt YouTube video posted this week, the 32-year-old, whose real name is Christopher Anthony Lunsford, reflected on his life and career while sitting in a wooded area with his two dogs. He rose to fame last year with his hit song “Rich Men North of Richmond.”

“I’ve decided that moving forward, I don’t need a Nashville management company. I don’t even need to exist within the space of music,” Anthony stated, expressing his desire to transition to a ministry focused on personal values. He further emphasized his belief that “our system is broken” and expressed a wish to “kind of keep things in the family business,” recalling that his great-grandfather had been a traveling minister.
