Sixteen-year-old Amri, a rising country music star from Lac La Biche, recently took the stage as the opening act for the award-winning Canadian folk-country trio The Washboard Union at the Bold Centre on October 24. The show, which attracted a crowd of around 300 fans, marked a significant milestone in Amri’s musical journey, as it was her first time performing as an opening act.
“I’ve never opened for a band before, and it was such a great experience,” Amri shared. The young singer and songwriter enjoyed not only the opportunity to perform but also to hear from other talented artists, including The Prairie States, an Alberta-based country group with multiple awards to their name, such as the 2018 Rising Star at the Country Music Alberta Awards.
Despite the initial nerves of performing in front of a hometown crowd, Amri found the experience deeply rewarding. Known for her soft yet powerful voice, her musical style has drawn comparisons to contemporary pop and rock stars like Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Gracie Adams, and Zach Bryan.
For Amri, the show was more than just a performance; it was a chance to solidify her place in the Alberta music scene, and it’s clear she’s already on the path to bigger things.
