Florida-born, Los Angeles-based rapper Hassan is known for defying trends and pushing artistic boundaries. His unapologetic approach has earned him recognition, particularly for his rapid-fire freestyles and provocative visuals. His latest video, where he raps “Stacy’s Song” while bleeding from a slit throat, is a perfect example of his fearless style.
Hassan explained the inspiration behind the shocking imagery, citing photographer Helmut Newton’s provocative work as a major influence. “That imagery was from an old Helmut Newton photo book, and I just reenacted it,” he said.
Hassan is gearing up for the release of EGO MANIAC, a seven-track project that includes the track “Barcelona,” accompanied by its own striking visuals. While the album isn’t available on major streaming platforms yet, Hassan has found success selling his music directly to consumers via YouTube and his personal website, a strategy he says has been more lucrative than traditional streaming.
At 32, Hassan is also making waves in the music business with a unique pricing model for his projects. His album The Second Coming, which features collaborations with Vic Mensa and Nick Grant, is being sold for $100, reflecting the value Hassan places on his work. “You can send me a dollar for the album, or you can send me a thousand dollars for the album. And people have done both,” he shared, emphasizing the personal connection he has with his fans.
Beyond music, Hassan is venturing into the fashion world, preparing to launch a new sneaker line, Sandy, named after his dog Mr. Sandman, as well as an upcoming loafer collaboration with DeJ Loaf. Hassan opened up about his journey as an artist, his projects, and his ties to major industry figures like Ye and Dame Dash.
