K-pop boy group Seventeen has been officially recognized by the city of Los Angeles for their significant contributions to music and youth empowerment. The group received a certificate of appreciation from the LA City Council, which was presented to Joshua, the group’s LA-born member, on Friday.
Joshua, who was raised in Los Angeles before moving to South Korea to pursue his music career, accepted the honor on behalf of Seventeen. The recognition comes as part of the group’s “Seventeen the City Los Angeles” project, which launched on Thursday. This initiative decorates downtown LA and its iconic landmarks with Seventeen-themed displays, further strengthening the group’s connection with their American fans and highlighting their impact on the city’s cultural landscape.
