Morgan Wallen has finally received his first-ever Grammy nominations, marking a significant milestone in his career. The country music star, known for his chart-topping hits, earned two nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards. Wallen is nominated for Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for his contribution to Post Malone’s popular track “I Had Some Help.”
Despite being one of the biggest country artists over the past five years, with multiple hit albums like Dangerous: The Double Album and One Thing at a Time, Wallen had never received Grammy recognition until now. His song “Last Night” had been up for Best Country Song at the 2024 Grammys, but Wallen himself was not nominated, only the songwriters.
Wallen’s road to recognition has been complicated by past controversies, including incidents involving a racial slur, a chair-throwing episode, and partying during the COVID-19 pandemic, which may have influenced Grammy voters’ hesitation to nominate him in the past. Even with record-breaking album sales and numerous No. 1 hits, Wallen had not previously been nominated for Best New Artist nor received a Grammy for his own songwriting.
In the Best Country Song category, Wallen’s “I Had Some Help” will compete against songs by Kacey Musgraves, Beyoncé, Jelly Roll, and Shaboozey. In the Best Country Duo/Group Performance category, the track faces competition from Brothers Osborne, Dan + Shay, Miley Cyrus with Beyoncé, and Kelsea Ballerini featuring Noah Kahan.
