Austin’s iconic honky-tonk, The Broken Spoke, is celebrating six decades of live country music with a month-long celebration, paying tribute to the artists who helped define its legacy. Known for hosting legendary acts like George Strait, Willie Nelson, and Dolly Parton, the beloved venue kicked off its 60th anniversary festivities with a “birthday dance” on November 9. However, the party isn’t over yet – the celebrations will continue through November 30.
The Broken Spoke, often referred to as “the last of the true Texas dancehalls,” has been a cornerstone of Austin’s music scene for decades. Throughout the month, several country artists who have graced the bar’s stage, including Alvin Crow, will return to perform and honor the venue’s enduring role in country music.
For locals and visitors alike, the 60th anniversary marks not just a milestone for the venue but a celebration of its deep ties to the heart of country music in Texas. The festivities will extend through the rest of the month, offering fans a chance to be part of its storied history.
