Mickey Guyton paid a heartfelt tribute to country music legend Patsy Cline during the opening performance of Great Performances – Patsy Cline: Walkin’ After Midnight at the iconic Ryman Auditorium. The Texas-born singer brought her own style to the stage, delivering a commanding rendition of Cline’s classic title track in a celebration of the late artist’s enduring influence on country music.
Guyton reflected on the honor of being part of this historic tribute, which is set to air on PBS on November 22. “It felt so good. I love Patsy Cline. It was like a full-circle moment for me to be a part of that,” Guyton said.
Before performing, Guyton playfully addressed the audience with a modern twist on Cline’s timeless hit, declaring, “As a woman in 2024, I’m not walking after midnight for nobody, and I mean nobody.” Her performance set the tone for a night that honored Cline’s legacy with both reverence and a touch of contemporary flair.
