Tech N9ne is here to show how it’s done in the world of metal-infused rap with his new single, “W.H.A.T. (We’re Hungry And Thirsty).” The track, which features Kim Dracula and Hu$h, blends hard-hitting nü-metal with rap in a way that sets it apart from recent attempts at merging the two genres.
While other artists like Lil Uzi Vert and Lil Pump have faltered in their metal ventures, Tech N9ne delivers with precision. His collaboration with Kim Dracula, known for their eccentric and complex lyricism, and Hu$h, who brings an intense energy to the track, makes “W.H.A.T.” a standout.
Tech N9ne, who has a history of working with legendary nü-metal producer Ross Robinson, shared his excitement about the song, saying, “I searched Spotify for metal rappers, and BANG! This one could be controversial because I’m talking about the writers of the Bible and how we’re waking up and being controlled. Kim Dracula was a perfect specimen for this because they’re lyrically crazy. HU$H killed it.”
Tech also spoke on his musical philosophy, stating, “Music is music, it makes no difference what it is. I can like Slipknot and Public Enemy equally. ‘Pulse Of The Maggots’ and ‘Welcome To The Terrordome’ are totally different songs, but I get the same thrill from them.”
The track is a prelude to Tech N9ne’s upcoming album BLISS, set for release on July 28.
