Rap music star Maxo Kream has returned with Personification, his highly anticipated new album, marking his first full release since 2021’s Weight of the World and its 2022 Deluxe Edition. The Houston rapper, known for his raw storytelling and introspective lyricism, brings fresh material that reflects his growth both personally and artistically, while remaining true to the gritty style that has defined his career.
Along with the album, Maxo has released a visually striking music video for the single “HigherThanEver,” featuring Rob49 and Skilla Baby. The video, set to a sinister drill beat, showcases the trio flexing their jewelry and rapping their unfiltered verses amidst flashing images of hedonistic parties and wild nights. These X-rated visuals mirror the themes of excess, indulgence, and the physical and material pleasures that are explored throughout Personification.
The new album follows the success of Weight of the World, which earned critical acclaim from outlets like Pitchfork, NPR, and Complex, and featured high-profile collaborations with the likes of Tyler, The Creator, A$AP Rocky, and Freddie Gibbs. Maxo continued to build his momentum in 2023, releasing notable tracks such as “Bonecrusher” with Key Glock and “Whatchamacallit” with Luh Tyler. Personification promises to further cement his place in the rap scene with its potent blend of gritty realism and introspective narratives.
