Australia is gearing up for a monumental 2025 concert season, with global superstars like Metallica, Oasis, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and more confirming major tours Down Under. Among the biggest names on the bill, Metallica is set to make waves with their M72 World Tour, bringing their iconic heavy metal sound to Aussie stadiums next year.
The U.S. rock legends will hit the same venues as Oasis, who are scheduled for Australian shows in October and November. Metallica’s upcoming stadium gigs promise to be a thrilling addition to the international tour circuit, which also includes Nashville country stars Luke Combs and Chris Stapleton, as well as pop sensations Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa.
While Taylor Swift’s 2024 tour dominated the Australian music scene, leading to lower ticket sales for other acts, it seems that Metallica and Oasis are poised to face similar challenges. With major tours on the horizon, there’s concern that these high-demand shows might take a significant chunk of the available concertgoer budget, leaving little for smaller events or local talent.
Swift’s 2024 success also set a precedent for international acts bringing their own opening acts, bypassing local performers. Metallica has followed suit, bringing U.S. bands Evanescence and Suicidal Tendencies as their support acts, while Luke Combs has tapped Mitchell Tenpenny and Jordan Davis to open for him.
As 2025 approaches, Australian fans can expect a packed lineup, but questions remain on how these massive international acts will impact the local touring industry.
