Mac Miller’s estate has unveiled the late rapper’s second posthumous album, Balloonerism, alongside a cinematic trailer shown at hip-hop star Tyler, The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival. The animated trailer offers a glimpse into the album’s creative process, featuring unreleased tracks like “The Song That Changed Everything,” a collaboration with SZA, and “5 Dollar Pony Rides.”
The album’s abstract, balloon-themed cover art was painted by artist Alim Smith, inspired by a 2018 post Mac had shared. Balloonerism was recorded in 2014, just before the release of Faces, during a week of experimental sessions at Mac’s Los Angeles home.
This upcoming project follows the 2020 release of Circles, Mac’s posthumous companion album to Swimming, which was completed after his untimely passing in 2018. While a release date for Balloonerism has yet to be confirmed, anticipation continues to build for this new chapter of his musical legacy.
