West Coast Rapper Saafir, 54, Passes Away

Veteran rap music star and actor Saafir, known for his work with West Coast icons like Digital Underground and Ras Kass, has passed away at the age of 54. The news was confirmed by his longtime friend and fellow rapper Xzibit, who shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram.

In a post made on Tuesday, Xzibit, a former member of the Golden State Project, mourned the loss of Reggie Dobson, the man behind the Saafir moniker, revealing that Dobson passed away at 8:45 a.m. that morning. The cause of death was not disclosed.

“We have so much history I can’t even explain what I’m feeling right now,” Xzibit wrote. “We surrounded him and let him know how much we loved him. He can rest now.”
