Caleb Kennedy, a country music singer and former contestant on American Idol, has been sentenced for his involvement in a 2022 DUI crash that claimed the life of a South Carolina man.
Kennedy received a 25-year prison sentence and a $25,100 fine for the crash that killed 54-year-old Larry Duane Parris. However, the court reduced the sentence to eight years in prison and lowered the fine to $15,100. Of the eight years, three are to be served under home detention, with Kennedy receiving credit for two years and nine months already served.
The crash occurred in February 2022 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Authorities reported that Kennedy drove into a workshop located behind a home. Parris, who was inside the shop, succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision.
Kennedy, whose brief rise to fame came from his time on American Idol, now faces the consequences of his actions, marking a tragic end to the fatal incident.
