Italian instrumental prog-metal fusionists Asymmetric Universe, recently signed to InsideOutMusic, have released their latest single, “Opaco” (Italian for “opaque”), showcasing their signature blend of technical mastery and genre-bending creativity.
Formed by brothers Federico and Nicolò Vese, Asymmetric Universe has gained recognition for their innovative sound and electrifying live performances, including a standout set at the Arctangent Festival in the UK this past summer. The accompanying music video for “Opaco,” directed by Edoardo Giuliani, is now available to watch online.
The band describes “Opaco” as their most technically challenging composition to date, drawing influence from modern guitar virtuosos such as Animals As Leaders and Polyphia while incorporating jazz-inspired sections reminiscent of Pat Metheny, Victor Wooten, and Jacob Collier. Federico and Nicolò chose to explore a jazz/metal quartet arrangement, stepping away from the heavier stylings of their previous work to craft a sound both intricate and dynamic.
With their innovative approach and global deal with InsideOutMusic, Asymmetric Universe continues to push the boundaries of instrumental prog-metal, cementing their reputation as one of the genre’s most exciting new acts. Fans can expect more groundbreaking music as the band charts its next steps.
