Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre have set the stage for their highly anticipated album Missionary with the release of their new single, “Outta Da Blue,” on Thursday, November 21. The track features Alus and sees the legendary West Coast duo trading verses over an infectious beat. The song samples Schoolly D’s 1986 hit “Saturday Night,” while Alus lends her vocals to the chorus, recreating M.I.A.’s iconic hook from “Paper Planes.”
“Outta Da Blue” is the latest preview from Missionary, Dre’s first full-length production for Snoop since their iconic collaboration on Doggystyle in 1993. Although the album was initially set for release in 2023 to mark the 30th anniversary of Snoop’s debut, the release has been delayed several times. Fans can expect Missionary to drop on December 13.
The release of “Outta Da Blue” comes just hours before Ice Cube’s Man Down and Finesse2tymes’ Art of War, along with new tracks from Boldy James, Killer Mike, Nicki Minaj, and more, all featured on iHeartRadio’s Rap Rising playlist.
