Cafe Acoustic buzzed with energy as Lanham Music’s Rock Academy showcased its young talent with a performance by Shredders of Destiny. The event, aimed at middle and high schoolers, provided a platform for aspiring musicians to take the stage and share their skills with an enthusiastic crowd.
Adding to the excitement, a guitar giveaway thrilled attendees, with several kids walking away with new instruments. Among the lucky winners was 15-year-old Hudson Wright, who couldn’t contain his enthusiasm about learning to play his first guitar.
“I listen to a lot of metal,” Wright said, citing iconic band Judas Priest as a major inspiration. “I think they’re really cool, and I really want to play some of their songs.”
The concert, free and open to all ages, was a testament to the power of music in bringing communities together. Lanham Music’s Rock Academy, an annual program, continues to inspire young musicians and foster a love of rock music in the next generation.
