The highly anticipated Devastation of the Nation Tour, featuring the I Am Morbid project, will hit San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall on Wednesday night, bringing an onslaught of death metal to the legendary venue.
I Am Morbid, fronted by former members of Morbid Angel, is set to deliver a crushing performance. Morbid Angel, alongside Florida contemporaries Death, was instrumental in pioneering a more extreme style of metal that emerged in the late 1980s. The band, originally formed in 1983 by guitarist Trey Azagthoth, endured numerous lineup changes over the years. Their debut album, Altars of Madness (1989), is considered a landmark in the genre, following an aborted 1986 recording attempt (Abominations of Desolation) that was eventually released in 1991.
The San Francisco stop is expected to showcase the relentless power of Morbid Angel’s legacy through the intensity of I Am Morbid’s performance.
