Courtney Love is gearing up for the release of a new album, enlisting a star-studded lineup of collaborators, both established icons and up-and-coming talent. The former Hole frontwoman offered a glimpse into her highly anticipated project, which is still in the works.
Love shared that the album will feature contributions from a diverse array of musicians, including Michael Stipe, the legendary former frontman of R.E.M., and Melissa Auf der Maur, her former bandmate in Hole. Notably, Frances Bean Cobain, Love’s daughter and goddaughter to Stipe, will also be involved. Echo & The Bunnymen guitarist Will Sargent is also set to appear, with Love hailing him as a “genius” for his ability to elevate the songs “beyond description.”
The album is being produced by Butch Walker, known for his work with Green Day, Weezer, and Fall Out Boy. However, Love has also expanded her creative horizons, collaborating with up-and-coming artists like 070 Shake, a New Jersey-born rapper and singer, and Sofia Isella, a Los Angeles-raised, Queensland-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
While no release date has been set, Love’s ongoing work-in-progress promises to bring a fresh mix of seasoned craftsmanship and new, boundary-pushing sounds.
