Country music star Lane Pittman has thrown his support behind social media influencer Sienna Mallon’s viral call for a bush doof, after Mallon revealed she was not invited to this year’s TikTok Awards. Taking to social media, Pittman pledged to headline the event if Mallon’s post received 10,000 likes, promising to bring his band along for the ride.
Mallon, a well-known country music enthusiast, launched the idea for an alternative celebration after being excluded from the TikTok Awards, which were held at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on November 27. The event featured performances by US pop star JoJo Siwa, who also presented the Artist of the Year award to indie rockers Royel Otis, and DJ CYRIL, who performed alongside Shannon Noll. Bridey Drake was named the TikTok Creator of the Year.
The bush doof concept, which Mallon describes as a country music-themed gathering, quickly gained traction on social media, with many fans eager for an event that combines the festival spirit with country tunes. Pittman’s enthusiastic offer to headline has added fuel to the fire, with followers rallying behind the idea.
“If this comment gets 10k likes, I’ll bring the band along and headline the Bush Doof,” Pittman wrote, sparking excitement among his fans and Mallon’s followers alike.
While the TikTok Awards may have been a high-profile affair, Mallon’s grassroots push for a country music doof has captured the imagination of fans who are eager for an event that celebrates country music in a more inclusive and down-to-earth setting.
