Pop music icon Cher has announced that her upcoming album, set to be her 28th, is likely to be her final release. The 78-year-old singer shared the news during an interview promoting her memoir, Cher: The Memoir, Part One, revealing her excitement about the new project while hinting that this might mark the end of her storied music career.
“This is probably my last album that I’m gonna do,” Cher said, reflecting on the album’s completion. “I’m really excited. They are great songs and I’m just really excited that I’m doing it.” The forthcoming release will be her first collection of new material since Closer to the Truth in 2013, and fans can expect a fresh batch of tracks showcasing Cher’s signature style.
Though the announcement comes with a tinge of sadness for fans, Cher remains upbeat, joking about her age in typical Cher fashion. “I’m older than dirt now, OK? I’m the oldest person I meet in almost every room unless I’m in an old folks’ home,” she quipped.
Despite the uncertainty around her future musical output, Cher’s latest album stands as a testament to her enduring legacy in pop music.
