Boyle, Alberta, is gearing up for a major musical event this summer, as country music star Gord Bamford is set to perform at the Millview Recreation Complex on June 6. The concert is part of Bamford’s series of small-town shows, which he began during the later stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing his talent back to rural communities where his career first took root.
This exciting event is the result of a collaborative effort between the Boyle Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Athabasca Community Foundation, Angels in Motion, the Boyle Ag Society, and other local organizations. With the support of these groups, Boyle is poised to host one of Canada’s most decorated male country artists, whose accolades include multiple Juno Awards and Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) wins.
“Gord is from a small town,” said Corinne Szepesi, business manager with Cache Entertainment Inc. “Those grassroots are really what built his career. It’s where it all began.”
The idea to bring Bamford to Boyle was first suggested by a chamber member and has since garnered widespread support. “It’s grown into a vision with support from all sides,” said Connie Wlos, treasurer of the Boyle and District Chamber of Commerce. The show promises to be a highlight for the community, as residents and country music fans alike gather for a memorable night of live music and celebration.
