After a six-year hiatus, legendary Malaysian pop music group KRU has reunited to release a new song, Voodoo, marking their return to the music scene. The trio, consisting of brothers Norman, Yusry, and Edry, were dominant figures in Malaysia’s pop music landscape during the 90s and early 2000s, with unforgettable hits like Fanatik, Jangan Lafazkan, and Awas.
Formed in 1992, KRU expanded their creative horizons in 1997 by venturing into film production, where they achieved success with popular box-office hits such as Cicakman and Duyung. However, in 2018, the group decided to disband as a music act to focus on their personal lives and other professional commitments.
Voodoo, released on November 22, is the first single from KRU’s upcoming album Kaset, slated for release at a later date. The track’s accompanying music video, which debuted on November 27, is particularly innovative, incorporating artificial intelligence to enhance the visual experience.
Kaset will feature 10 songs, and the group is also planning a concert in 2025 to celebrate their long-awaited return. Fans are eager to see how KRU’s reunion will shape the next chapter of their storied career in both music and entertainment.
