K-pop boy band Treasure is preparing for a significant shift in their musical direction, according to YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun-suk. In a video posted on the company’s YouTube channel, Yang revealed that the group’s upcoming releases will feature a more introspective and toned-down sound.
Treasure’s first release in this new era will be a pre-release single titled Last Night, dropping on December 5. Following that, the 10-member group is set to release an extended play in February 2025, with plans for a full-length album by mid-year, either in July or August.
“This time, Treasure will be showing a somewhat unique concept, different from before. I can say it’s quite a significant change,” Yang said. He explained that while previous tracks like King Kong, Bona Bona, and Jikjin were marked by powerful and intense sounds, the new music will dial back the intensity, allowing the group to express more personal and honest emotions.
“This album will allow for a more comfortable listening experience, one that reaches the audience in a more genuine way,” Yang added.
In addition to the musical shift, Treasure will see a change in leadership. Starting January 1, 2025, members Junkyu and Asahi will take over as leaders, rotating from the current leaders, Hyunsuk and Jihoon.
Looking ahead, Treasure will also embark on a new world tour starting in October 2025, following their recent “Relay Tour [Reboot]” in Manila. YG Entertainment also teased the possibility of debuting new artists, with Yang hinting at further details to come.
Fans can expect an exciting new chapter for Treasure as they embrace a fresh musical identity and continue to expand their global presence.
