Country music rising star Max McNown is teaming up with acclaimed artist Hailey Whitters for a highly anticipated duet, “Roses and Wolves,” set to release on streaming platforms Thursday, December 5. This marks the first collaboration between the two artists, who are both making waves in the country scene—McNown with his viral hit “A Lot More Free,” and Whitters as a standout voice in the genre in recent years.
“Roses and Wolves” is the latest single from McNown’s forthcoming album Night Diving, which is set to drop on January 24, 2025. The track follows the release of previous singles like “Better Me For You,” “Hotel Bible,” and “Marley.” McNown teased the song on his social media platforms on December 2, sharing a brief clip of his performance, which captured the track’s upbeat, yet bittersweet tone.
With bright instrumentation, McNown sings, “Roses will still bloom in the springtime / Wolves will sing their songs up to the moon / People fall and people love / And people pass on through / Guess tomorrow won’t see me and you.” The song’s reflective lyrics speak to the inevitability of change and the passage of time.
In an emotional reflection, McNown shared the personal meaning behind the song, saying, “The privilege of hindsight helps us accept that relationships don’t always last forever. Roses and Wolves is written from a place of comfort in the realization that the world will keep spinning and heartbreak is part of life.” He also praised Whitters for her contribution, stating, “Her beautiful vocals created a unique energy and truly brought this song to life.”
Whitters expressed her excitement about the collaboration, saying, “I was so glad Max asked me to sing on this! He’s an incredible artist, and I’m so honored he asked me to be a part of such a great song.”
In addition to “Roses and Wolves” and the previously released tracks, Night Diving will feature new songs such as “It’s Not Your Fault,” “Azalea Place,” and “Love I Couldn’t Mend.”
