Shenandoah, Luke Bryan, and Jason Aldean have come together for a new version of Shenandoah’s iconic 1989 hit “Sunday in the South,” and the trio has now released a heartfelt music video to accompany the collaboration.
Directed by Edde Brothers, the video captures the relaxed, down-home feel of the song, with scenes filmed at the Country Boy Restaurant in Leipers Fork, Tennessee. The clip features Bryan, Aldean, and Shenandoah’s frontman Marty Raybon sharing coffee and singing the song’s nostalgic lyrics inside a cozy local diner. The video also revisits landmarks from the original music video, filmed in Muscle Shoals over three decades ago, paying tribute to the song’s roots.
“Having Jason and Luke on this song has certainly been a highlight for us,” said Raybon. “This song has always ministered to us in such a special way.”
Bryan, reflecting on the song’s impact, shared, “My earliest memories of ‘Sunday in the South’ are that it was a song that spoke exactly to my life. It shaped the way I thought about music and how I wanted to make music one day.”
Aldean added, “It’s just always an honor for us to get to work with these guys we grew up listening to.”
Originally released in 1989, “Sunday in the South” was part of Shenandoah’s The Road Not Taken album, which also featured hits like “Two Dozen Roses” and “The Church on Cumberland Road.” Earlier this year, Shenandoah collaborated with Luke Combs for a refreshed version of “Two Dozen Roses.”
