German dark metal pioneers Nachtblut are set to release their highly anticipated seventh studio album, Todschick (translated: dead chic), on February 21 via Napalm Records. The album features ten tracks that fuse their signature dark metal style with 1980s-inspired synthesizer sounds, expanding the band’s musical boundaries while maintaining Askeroth’s distinctive vocals.
Following the success of their 2020 album Vanitas, which peaked at #19 on the German album charts, Todschick promises to be an even darker and more versatile offering. The album is produced by Chris Harms of Lord of the Lost and will be available in a wooden box set, including a bonus CD with seven additional tracks, some featuring collaborations with major genre figures.
The band releases the haunting title track, “Todschick,” alongside an eerie music video. The track, which blends catchy synths with powerful riffs, explores the beauty in darkness and the inevitability of death. “With this song, Nachtblut embraces death while redefining the concept of ‘Todschick’—dead chic,” the band says. “It’s the perfect introduction to this new era.”
