BTS has reached another milestone, with their music video for “Butter” hitting 1 billion views on YouTube. This achievement makes “Butter” the group’s seventh video to join the prestigious Billion Views club, following in the footsteps of hits like “Dynamite”, “Boy With Luv” featuring Halsey, and “DNA.”
Released in May 2021, “Butter” marked BTS’ second English-language single after “Dynamite.” The video features the septet—V, Suga, Jung Kook, Jin, RM, Jimin, and J-Hope—delivering slick choreography, striking poses, and playful mugshots. The visuals take fans through various settings, including press conferences, gymnasiums, and large stages. The infectious track, with its signature line “Smooth like butter, like a criminal undercover…” quickly became a global sensation.
The song earned several accolades, including a nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2022 Grammy Awards and a win for Best K-pop at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards. Additionally, “Butter” dominated the Billboard charts, spending 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topping the 2021 Songs of the Summer chart.
