Sophie Bolen, an emerging country music artist from West Michigan, is gearing up for the release of her debut album in 2025. Raised in Ada, Bolen has been performing since the age of 4, starting out in musicals, commercials, and films before expanding into songwriting, guitar playing, and starring in her own music videos.
Bolen’s latest project offers a fresh take on the holiday classic Holly Jolly Christmas, which she recently released as a cover. She describes the rendition as having a “really different sound” with an acoustic guitar and subtle ambient fillers that give it a timeless, classic feel.
Her debut album, slated for 2025, will feature the already-released track Where The Heart Can Sing. The album, Bolen says, is a reflection of her personal growth and experiences over the past several years. “It’s kind of a coming-of-age album,” she shared. “I wrote it from the time I was 18 to now 24, so there’s a lot of life that’s been lived in that time, and it has a really good acoustic feel.”
While Bolen spends a significant amount of time in Nashville to develop her career, she remains deeply connected to her Michigan roots. She draws inspiration from her upbringing, which included showing horses and dogs at local fairs, as well as spending time at nature spots like the Sleeping Bear Dunes. “Nature and the lakes and rivers are a spiritual part of me,” she says.
In addition to her music career, Bolen will also star in the upcoming faith-based film Beyond Belief, set for release in 2025.
