At just 22 years old, country music singer Jackson Hartley is making his debut at Redemption Bar & Grill in Herriman, Utah. Hartley, an Alpine resident, is no stranger to the stage, although his journey to performing professionally had its share of setbacks.
“My older brother, Cole Harley, is a country artist who’s played Redemption before, along with various state fairs,” Hartley explained. “I grew up playing guitar and doing talent shows, but I had a rough experience at a show when I was 14. I forgot the lyrics halfway through a song, froze up, and walked off stage. That kept me away from performing for about seven years.”
However, witnessing his brother’s success reignited Hartley’s passion for music, leading him to face his stage fright. Over the past year, he’s gained confidence and now performs regularly. “I don’t get nervous anymore,” he said. “When I’m on stage, I feel more alive than scared. It’s an awesome feeling.”
Hartley’s performance philosophy has evolved since his early days. If he forgets the lyrics during a show, he doesn’t miss a beat. “I just keep playing,” he said. “I either jump into a chorus or redo the verse. I don’t stop; I just keep going.”
One of his standout songs, “Highway 14,” reflects his experience recovering from a car accident in 2021, and has resonated with fans who’ve gone through similar struggles. “It’s been amazing to hear from people who’ve experienced what I did and have found comfort in the song,” Hartley shared.
Although still early in his career, Hartley is grateful for the support of his fans as he continues to grow as an artist. Fans can catch his debut performance at Redemption Bar & Grill, located at 3517 W. Maradona Drive, Herriman, at 7 p.m. Monday.
