Australian country music star Andy Penkow, known for his soulful voice and electrifying performances, is set to light up the Moree Services Club this New Year’s Eve. The rising star, also a proud ambassador for the Australian Koala Foundation (AKF), will bring a memorable live show to northern New South Wales.
Penkow’s performance will showcase his biggest hits, including a special new version of “Heavy on Me,” re-written in collaboration with the AKF for Save the Koala Day 2024. The concert promises to be a highlight of the holiday season in Moree, known for its community spirit and support for local conservation efforts.
Penkow, whose blend of traditional and contemporary country music has earned him widespread acclaim, was recently nominated for three Golden Guitar awards. His album Shades On Me is up for Contemporary Album of the Year, Toyota Album of the Year, and Bush Ballad of the Year for the song “The Lone Drover.” The awards ceremony will take place on January 25, 2025, during the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
The AKF holds Moree and its surrounding areas in high regard, particularly for their support of koala conservation. “Moree is such an important area for the Australian Koala Foundation, as are the towns surrounding it,” said AKF Chair Deborah Tabart OAM. She highlighted the generosity of Moree Secondary College, which recently raised funds for Save the Koala Month and contributed to the first Koala KISS Project in the Gwydir Shire.
The concert is free to attend, and all guests will receive a one-time discount code for the AKF’s online shop, in collaboration with Penkow. “We’re thrilled that Andy is bringing his concert to Moree for New Year’s Eve,” added Tabart. “He’s been a long-time friend of the AKF, and his live shows are always a spectacular experience.”
The event promises to be a celebration of both music and wildlife conservation, uniting fans and the community in support of the iconic Australian koala.
