Las Vegas-based metal band SpiritWorld has dropped a blistering new track, “Western Stars & The Apocalypse,” marking their first release since their 2022 album Deathwestern. The 2-minute metallic hardcore anthem showcases the band’s signature blend of Old West occultism and intense thrashing riffs.
The song, engineered and mixed by Sam Pura and mastered by Alberto de Icaza, draws heavy inspiration from New York hardcore, with frontman Stu Folsom crediting his European tour with Agnostic Front for fueling the track’s creation. Folsom also nods to Bob Dylan’s “Desolation Row,” which influenced the song’s lyrics during his downtime on tour.
Accompanying the release is an animated music video directed by Balázs Gróf, a frequent collaborator of Rob Zombie. The video immerses viewers in SpiritWorld’s eerie universe, combining supernatural horror and Western pulp, complete with cosmic beasts, rivers of blood, and an animated version of Folsom dancing on a grave.
Folsom expresses his excitement for the video, calling it a “weird, spooky, animated trip through the underworld.” Fans can stream “Western Stars & The Apocalypse” on all major platforms now.
