Rising country music star Wyatt Flores has earned a coveted spot in Apple Music’s Up Next Class of 2024, an honor reserved for the year’s top emerging talent. The Oklahoma-born artist, known for his hit “West of Tulsa,” is the sole country act included in this prestigious list, which also features artists from various genres, including alt-hip hop’s Teezo Touchdown, Latin trap sensation Young Miko, R&B’s 4batz, hip-hop’s Karan Aujla, and trap artist Cash Cobain.
Reflecting on his journey, Flores shared with Apple Music, “I was constantly around music, and just knowing whatever happens in this world, if there’s a piece of wood with six strings on it, I’m still gonna end up playing it.”
The past year has been a whirlwind for Flores. He made his Grand Ole Opry debut, released his Half Life EP, and followed up with his full-length album Welcome to the Plains. In addition to conquering a headlining tour, he’s appeared at major festivals, cementing his place as a rising force in country music.
Despite the rapid pace of his success, Flores remains grounded, stating, “I’ve been very fortunate and I’ve had a lot of good people in my corner that have helped me grow. Things are happening so fast, but I’m just grateful for the chance to keep going. It’s still moving at a speed that doesn’t feel real.”
