Witch Post, the emerging rock duo, is bringing an irresistible cool factor back to the music scene, blending mysticism and raw musical talent into a unique sound. The band’s name itself is steeped in intrigue—an idea sparked by a seemingly serendipitous moment in the life of lead vocalist Reid, who explains, “The witch post… was meant to deter witches, and people would carve them on the mantels…and this is so weird, but I kissed it.” This encounter, combined with a black cat following her soon after, led Reid to team up with Scottish songwriter Dylan Fraser, marking the beginning of Witch Post’s formation and a fresh chapter for both artists.
Fraser and Reid, both in their mid-twenties, bring distinct but complementary musical backgrounds to the project. Reid, originally from Montana, began her journey in the indie scene with the band Alyeska before venturing into a solo career. Her sound, shaped by narrative-driven indie rock with hints of country and electronic influences, saw success with her debut album Big Bunny in 2020, followed by Disenchanter in 2023. Fraser, on the other hand, started his career in a more unconventional way—earning money through meme-based websites before turning to music full-time. His debut EP The Storm (2020) combines electronic beats with candid introspection.
Though their paths diverged, the shared musical chemistry between the two felt inevitable. Witch Post, as Reid describes it, is infused with a spiritual element—an unspoken connection between the two that transcends explanation. “I think you can’t really explain it, and we obviously can’t really explain it. I think that’s actually what’s mysterious and attractive about it,” Reid muses. “It almost feels like magic.” This mystical bond is further symbolized by their uncanny connection: both artists hail from towns named after each other, one in Montana and the other in Scotland.
In an era where the magic of music can sometimes feel elusive, Witch Post is reviving that intangible spark, blending haunting allure with a fresh take on rock. With their unique sound and fascinating backstory, Witch Post is set to capture hearts and minds—one mystical note at a time.
