French band MUE, led by guitarist, singer, and composer Sylvain Jamault, has released “Labyrinthe,” the first single from their highly anticipated second album. The track is accompanied by a visually striking music video that delves into themes of mental and emotional confinement, the violence of self-rejection, and the liberating breakthrough that allows one to move forward.
The band, consisting of Jamault (guitar, vocals), Etienne Callac (bass), Louise Gravez (piano), Léo Laurent (vibraphone), Nicolas Hild (drums), and Alix Caillebot (guitar), brings together an eclectic mix of musical influences. Jamault, a former guitarist and vocalist for the hardcore band ABKAHN, has shared stages with the likes of SLAYER and Nostromo. His musical inspirations span from progressive rock and metal to minimalist music and classical composition, blending these diverse styles to create a sound all his own.
MUE’s debut album Rencontres, released in May 2023, was a vibrant exploration of experimental music with no limits, reflecting the band’s passion for pushing boundaries. Produced by Jefca Musique and published by Arts Prod, Rencontres was mixed in Belgium by Stephan Kraemer (Tiersen, Gojira). With Labyrinthe, the band continues to evolve, offering a glimpse into the sonic landscape of their forthcoming album.
