Kix Brooks will be stepping down as host of American Country Countdown at the end of this year after 17 years at the helm. The country music star made the announcement on November 25, shortly after he and partner Ronnie Dunn took home their first CMA Award for Vocal Duo of the Year since 2006, marking a milestone 32 years after their first win in 1992.
Brooks, who has co-hosted the syndicated show since January 2006, said the decision was made to allow him to focus more on his primary role as one half of the legendary country duo, Brooks & Dunn. The duo has experienced a resurgence, including the November release of their collaboration album Reboot II, which features the hit song “Believe,” performed alongside rising star Jelly Roll.
