Japanese pop music group XG is making a significant mark on the global music scene with their latest mini-album, AWE, which has officially debuted on the US Billboard 200 chart. The album entered the prestigious list at number 175, marking a major milestone for the hip-hop and R&B-influenced girl group.
This debut makes XG the first Japanese girl group to land on the Billboard 200 since BABYMETAL’s METAL GALAXY in 2019. The success of AWE also propelled the group to the top of Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart, which highlights rising artists yet to break into the top 100 of the Billboard 200.
Building on the momentum of their hit track GRL GVNG, which made history as the first song by a Japanese artist to top Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs Powered by Twitter chart, XG’s achievements signal their growing international influence. With an upcoming world tour and a performance at Coachella, the group is poised to continue their ascent on the global stage.
