Boise’s indie rock trio Blood Lemon has dropped their fiery new single, “High Tide,” along with an evocative music video. The track, from their upcoming EP Petite Deaths set for release on January 17 via Moon Ruins, showcases the band’s signature blend of post-riot grrrl energy and raw, seductive rock.
“High Tide” is a charged, overdriven anthem that explores the primal allure of seduction. Written by guitarist Lisa Simpson, the song’s lyrics delve into the animalistic drive to both seduce and be seduced, drawing inspiration from contemporary romance authors and Simpson’s own deep dive into fan fiction for the Outlander series. Simpson revealed, “I took the sensual for inspiration, and the beginning of ‘High Tide’ was a research query of what idioms or phrases other cultures use for orgasm.”
The DIY-style music video complements the track’s themes, featuring found footage to create a cinematic experience that mirrors the song’s metaphorical exploration of sensuality.
Following notable performances at Treefort Music Fest and supporting acts like The Shivas and Vision Video, Blood Lemon has evolved musically, broadening their emotional range. Petite Deaths stands as a testament to the trio’s ability to reinvent themselves, fueled by a shared passion for music and a fearless embrace of change.
