Plans are underway for a three-day Korean pop music festival in North London next summer, as organizers seek approval from Brent Council to host the event at Northwick Park. The festival, known as the MIK (Made in Korea) Festival, is expected to draw up to 15,000 attendees, though the specific dates in June are still pending confirmation.
Magic Sound Ltd, the company behind the festival, is requesting permission to hold the event from June 6 to June 8, 2025. This would mark the second time the MIK Festival has come to London, following its successful debut in 2022 at Southwark Park. The 2023 event, however, was canceled due to poor ticket sales and rising operational costs.
If approved, the festival would require a section of Northwick Park to be fenced off for 10 days prior to the event for setup, with an additional five days for takedown after its conclusion.
Organizers describe the MIK Festival as a celebration of global K-Pop and Chinese Pop talent, showcasing performances from popular artists within these genres. In addition to the music, the event will feature around 40 food stalls, two bars, and various merchandise stands. A wide range of entertainment is planned, including plays, films, recorded music, and dance performances. The festival would also permit the sale of alcohol from 11:00 AM to 10:30 PM each day, with attendees allowed to stay until 11:30 PM after performances conclude.
A public consultation on the application is open until January 14, 2025, allowing residents to voice their opinions. The application will then be reviewed by the Brent Council’s Alcohol and Entertainment Licensing Sub-Committee, which will make a final decision on whether to approve the event.
