Mudvayne fans eagerly awaiting new material from the band since their 2009 self-titled album may have to continue their patience a little longer, but there’s promising news on the horizon. Vocalist Chad Gray recently shared an update on the band’s progress, confirming that they’ve been working on new music—albeit at a slow pace.
Gray explained that while the band has been putting together some new material, they are taking their time to ensure it meets their high standards. “We’ve started putting some new stuff together, and people who’ve heard the early demos are really excited about it,” he said. “But it’s really rough—demos—and we have to make sure it’s special and that it’s truly Mudvayne.”
One of the challenges the band faces is the geographic distance between members, which has made the process slow and difficult. “We all live states away from each other, so it’s tough to get together frequently. But we’ve managed to demo some things,” Gray noted. “It’s been a bit of a back-and-forth, and then we hit a wall and decided to focus on touring.”
Mudvayne reunited in 2021 for a series of festival appearances and have been on the road ever since. With the completion of their summer tour, Gray expressed hope that the band would soon focus more intensively on their new music. “Now that we’ve finished touring, we’re decompressing and hopefully can get back to work on the new material,” he said. “Maybe we’ll have something new by the time we head to Australia. We’ll see.”
