Florida-based power metal band Seven Kingdoms has capped off an incredible milestone year with the release of a fan-driven cover of Mr. Mister’s iconic 1980s hit, “Kyrie.” The band, who signed with Reigning Phoenix Music in 2024, also headlined a successful North American tour and released their latest EP The Square, which has earned critical praise from major outlets like Metal Hammer UK and Decibel Magazine.
To mark the occasion, Seven Kingdoms has released a music video for “Kyrie,” which showcases their unique take on the classic track. The video, which also features candid moments from the band’s travels, highlights their adventures on tour, including stops at the beloved Buc-ee’s gas station—a favorite hangout spot for many touring bands.
The cover was chosen by one of the band’s dedicated Kickstarter backers as part of a fun campaign that allows fans to suggest songs for the band to cover. Lead vocalist Sabrina noted that the song’s lyrics, which translate to “Lord have Mercy,” resonate deeply with the band’s experiences on the road. “When you’re driving all around the world, at all hours of the day and night, surrounded by both responsible and irresponsible drivers, it’s like putting your life on the line every second,” Sabrina explained. “I often refer to highways as ‘the river of idiots,’ which can be anyone at any given moment.”
The Square EP is now available for streaming, and limited edition vinyl and CD copies, each signed by the band, can be purchased directly from Seven Kingdoms. With their combination of classic and original material, Seven Kingdoms is proving that 2024 was only the beginning of their rise.
