Coldplay continues to dominate the live music scene, topping Billboard Boxscore’s list of the highest-grossing rock tours of 2024. The British band’s Music of the Spheres tour grossed a staggering $400 million, selling 3 million tickets across 51 shows, making it the highest-grossing tour in music history.
Veteran acts reign supreme on the list, with all but one of the top 10 acts hailing from the 20th century. The exception is Dead & Company, formed in 2015, but continuing the legacy of the Grateful Dead, a band that first formed in 1965.
Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band secured the second spot, grossing $235 million from 1.6 million tickets sold over 39 shows. The Rolling Stones closely followed in third with $235 million in earnings from 848,000 tickets sold during 18 shows. U2 took fourth place, grossing $231 million from 630,000 tickets over 38 shows.
Metallica rounded out the top five with $175 million in earnings from 1.5 million tickets sold during 24 shows.
The full top 10 list is rounded out by Eagles, Green Day, Dead & Company, Depeche Mode, and Blink-182. Despite their decades-long careers, rock bands continue to lead the live music industry in revenue, proving their enduring appeal in the global concert circuit.
