Kieran Shudall, lead singer of indie-rock sensation Circa Waves, has expressed his admiration for Glasgow, calling it an “amazing city with remarkable energy.” Speaking to the Glasgow Times, Shudall described the city’s unique vibe, saying, “It gets proper inside you, Glasgow, it affects your body with an energy you can’t escape—it’s quite remarkable.”
The band, known for their hit “T-Shirt Weather,” is set to return to the Barrowlands on February 16, 2025, as part of their UK tour. Having performed at the iconic venue several times before, including both headlining shows and supporting acts like The Libertines and Phoenix, Shudall emphasized the Barrowlands’ special place in their hearts.
“The Barrowlands is so special and cool,” he said. “The first time we played it, I remember going into the dressing room where they have these stars on the ceiling that bands can pull off. Every one of us has got one of those stars. The floor is bouncy, the crowd is mental—it’s just a guaranteed good night.”
The band is also gearing up to release their new album, Death & Love, Pt. 1, on January 31, 2025. The album, which follows Shudall’s near-fatal heart surgery in 2023, is an energetic and cathartic reflection of his recovery. “It’s a record that I really wanted to make for me, in a purely catharsis way,” Shudall explained. “I had two choices: make a sad record or pull myself out of it and make something energetic.”
He added that the album pays homage to the indie genre with “loud guitars and drums” and hopes fans will connect with the raw energy. “I hope others will love it too,” he said, highlighting the upcoming Glasgow show as a chance to introduce the new material alongside fan favorites.
“We like to do a bit of a party playlist vibe,” Shudall noted. “I want people to leave thinking, ‘That’s the best f***ing show I have seen all year.'” The band aims to deliver an unforgettable rock experience, ensuring fans get their money’s worth in energy and excitement.
Tickets for the Barrowlands show are still available via the official venue website. Circa Waves will also release Love & Death, Pt. 2 in the near future, further expanding their musical journey.
