Shaboozey is continuing to break barriers in country music with his chart-topping hit “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” The 29-year-old Virginian artist, born Collins Obinna Chibueze, has made history as the first Black male artist to hit No. 1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Country Songs Charts. The genre-defying track has also topped Billboard’s Hot Country Songs, Country Airplay, and Mediabase/Country Aircheck charts, marking a monumental moment in the country music scene.
This week, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” made waves again by tying the record for the longest run at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, with 27 weeks at the top. The song ties Gabby Barrett’s 2020 hit “I Hope” for the longest No. 1 streak of the decade. It now ranks third overall for the longest reign in the chart’s history since its inception in 1958, trailing only Florida Georgia Line and Bebe Rexha’s “Meant to Be” (50 weeks) and Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road” (34 weeks).
In addition to its chart dominance, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” has topped the RIAA’s singles list for 2024, based on its impressive sales and streaming numbers.
The accolades keep rolling in for Shaboozey, who has already claimed three Billboard Music Awards for his breakout anthem. Now, the country-rap sensation is eyeing the biggest night in music— the Grammy Awards. He is nominated for five Grammy Awards in 2025, including coveted nods for Song of the Year and Best New Artist.
Shaboozey shared his excitement about the nominations, calling the recognition “a dream come true.” Reflecting on his musical journey, he said, “I’ve had so many different eras of music… the music I’m making now is truly an authentic version of me.
