Nicki Minaj’s fiery diss track, “Big Foot,” released in January 2024, has received harsh criticism, with Variety listing it among the worst songs of the year. The track, which came as a retaliatory response to Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hiss,” was charged with insults aimed at Minaj’s rival and Megan’s ongoing tension with Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty.
Described by Variety as a “five-minute crisis manifesto,” the song features biting accusations and personal attacks, marking a significant escalation in the rap feud. While Minaj is no stranger to controversy in her career, Variety criticized the track as difficult to listen to, suggesting it lacked the finesse expected from a seasoned artist.
The beef between Minaj and Megan began after their 2019 collaboration on “Hot Girl Summer.” The fallout has since sparked a series of public jabs, with Minaj’s lyrics on “Big Foot” hitting particularly hard. Among the allegations, Minaj accused Megan of sleeping with her late mother’s partner, trading sexual favors with producers for career advancement, and even suggested Megan fabricated the shooting incident involving Tory Lanez.
Despite the explosive nature of Minaj’s track, fans largely sided with Megan, and it appears Variety may have shared that sentiment. Megan, in a September 2024 interview with Billboard, expressed confusion over the ongoing feud, stating, “I still to this day don’t know what the problem is.”
Minaj’s aggressive response in “Big Foot” has further fueled the tension, leaving the rap battle unresolved as 2024 closes.
