Southern rock and country legends Confederate Railroad will take the stage at the Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 7:30 PM, officially launching the venue’s 2025 Performance Series.
Formed in the early 1990s, Confederate Railroad quickly became a cornerstone of country music. Led by frontman Danny Shirley, the band’s rise began as a backing group for iconic artists like David Allan Coe and Johnny Paycheck. Their breakthrough came with their self-titled debut album, which produced a string of chart-topping hits, including “She Took It Like A Man,” “Jesus and Mama,” and the fan-favorite “Queen of Memphis.”
With their unique fusion of country, rock, and blues, Confederate Railroad dominated the country music scene. Their debut album alone produced six hit singles, selling nearly three million copies and earning them the Academy of Country Music’s Best New Group Award in 1993. Their follow-up albums, such as the platinum-certified Notorious, solidified their legacy with songs like “Daddy Never Was the Cadillac Kind” and the Grammy-nominated “Trashy Women,” which remains their signature track.
