Ukrainian black metal artist Këkht Aräkh has released a haunting new music video for his single “Dröm Sång,” a track recorded during the 2021 sessions for his Pale Swordsman album. The song, which explores themes of escapism and reflection on life’s struggles, is brought to life visually in a new video shot entirely in Tokyo.
The music video, filmed by Nick of electronic duo IC3PEAK, showcases the vibrant yet often idealized urban landscape of Tokyo, which Këkht Aräkh’s mastermind, Dmitry, sees as a symbolic backdrop for the song’s contemplative message. “This particular place is often idealized by people who have never lived there,” Dmitry explains, “making it a perfect fit for the song’s theme of escapism—where life, with all its hardships, is but a dream from which you’ll eventually awaken to a peaceful world.”
The track was recorded under spontaneous and cramped conditions across Berlin and Tokyo, while its mixing and mastering were handled by James Ginzburg in Berlin’s Schöneberg studio. The new single offers an atmospheric blend of black metal, accented by poignant imagery and a sense of longing that aligns with the song’s philosophical themes.
Fans can now watch the visually striking video on various platforms, as Këkht Aräkh continues to carve a unique path within the black metal genre.
