Country music singer Zach Top has once again captivated fans with an emotional acoustic performance, this time flipping Dolly Parton’s iconic “Hard Candy Christmas” into his own heartfelt version. The rendition, released as a stripped-down acoustic performance, comes on the heels of a significant year for the artist, following the release of his debut studio album Cold Beer & Country Music in April 2024.
Known for hits like “Sounds Like the Radio,” “There’s the Sun,” and “Cowboys Like Me Do,” Top has made waves in the country scene over the past year. Yet, in a move that truly highlights his raw talent, he decided to step away from the stage and perform “Hard Candy Christmas” in a more intimate setting, accompanied only by his guitar.
Originally released by Dolly Parton in 1982, the song was Top’s choice to spread some holiday cheer in 2023. Fans quickly praised his flawless vocal performance and the emotional depth he brought to the song. Many took to social media to express their admiration, with one comment reading, “Just when I thought I couldn’t love this song any more!” Another fan wrote, “You just sang a song most people can’t hope to sing properly. Fine job, and you have solid command of your voice.”
With his stripped-back rendition of this country classic, Zach Top continues to prove his ability to keep the heart and soul of traditional country music alive.
