Country and bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs is set to perform in Franklin on January 17, 2025, bringing his renowned musical talents to the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts. Skaggs, a 15-time Grammy winner, will take the stage at 7 p.m. alongside his band, Kentucky Thunder, for a night of unforgettable music.
A pioneer in both the country and bluegrass scenes, Skaggs is widely regarded as a key figure in the revival of traditional country music. Guitar icon Chet Atkins once credited Skaggs with “single-handedly saving country music,” a testament to the profound impact he has had on the genre.
Throughout his illustrious career, Skaggs has explored various musical landscapes while maintaining his bluegrass roots. His achievements include being inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, the Musicians Hall of Fame, and most recently, the National Fiddler Hall of Fame. In 2020, he was awarded the National Medal of Arts, recognizing his contributions to American music.
